How, how, how did I not know that Tove Jansson had illustrated an edition of The Hobbit?

Richard Armitage named One to Watch in 2012 by MTV.
I’ll say!
Gah. Richard Armitage as Thorin, from the 4th Hobbit production video.
This is my first favorite thing from the video. The second is the fact that one of the 3-D cameras is nicknamed Tricky Woo (All Creatures Great and Small nerd that I am). The third is just Peter Jackson in all his sweater-wearing, kinda frumpy, yet adorable excited filmmaker glory. (You can see the video here.)
Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield!

Richard Armitage from The Hobbit’s second production video!

I was on a pinball date with my honey tonight (yes, we have pinball dates once a week), and while playing the Lord of the Rings game was suddenly struck with the realization that in a year or so I could be playing a Hobbit pinball machine with Richard Armitage’s (i.e. Thorin Oakenshield’s) face on it.
Richard Armitage on a pinball machine. Mind boggles.

(and Thorin in the background I believe? either that or Khal Drogo is doing a cameo)
Richard Armitage: I’m playing Thorin who is the leader of the dwarves - of this particular group of dwarves- on this particular quest.
Interviewer: And can you tell us about that yourself?
Richard Armitage: Me as a person? Would you like to be a bit more specific? I’ve got forty years to talk about.
“The Hobbit” - press Conference
I love the eyebrows and the kind of “are you f-ing kidding me” expression in the first frame. And then at the end, all charm. Lovely. And the beard!
